RHAC Beliefs, Objectives and Guiding Principles

Shared Values
We believe in respecting the values and dignity of our residents and are responsive to their rights and needs. The wishes and needs of each individual are balanced with the needs of our employees, stakeholders, our community and the environment through shared values. In a person-centred service, we listen to all our residents and support them to play a part in their own dailing living requirements and have a say in how our service is run. We focus our work on the needs and preferences of our residents rather than on what is convenient for the operation.
Mind and Body
The planning, design and delivery of our services are developed by residents’ identified needs and preferences. We help to ensure there is equitable access to healthcare and education services and support residents’ health and education needs through individual assessment taking into account respect for diversity and their rights. Residents are supported in maintaining and improving their own health and wellbeing and are encouraged to participate in many programmes that we run promoting both physical and mental health.
We strive to develop better health and wellbeing and constantly look for ways and opportunities to promote, maintain and improve the health and wellbeing of our. The improvement of the health and wellbeing of residents is not our sole responsibility, rather we work together to achieve this outcome and residents are supported to make decisions.
Respect and Equality
Residents are enabled to participate in making informed decisions about their lives at the centre. We promote’ dignity, privacy and autonomy and a culture of kindness, consideration and respect.
We take all complaints and concerns seriously and act immediately on resolutions ensuring that all issues are responded to promptly, openly and effectively with clear communication and support provided throughout this process.
Safe and Secure
We recognise that the safety of residents is of the highest importance and that everyone working within our centre has a role and responsibility in delivering a safe high quality service. Systems are in place to identify, prevent or minimise unnecessary or potential harm associated with the provision of accommodation to residents. We are always looking for ways to be more reliable and to improve the quality and safety of the service we deliver. Such a service learns from situations where things have gone wrong and makes changes to the service it provides as a result.
Focused and Fair
We have a well-governed service and are about what we do, how we do it and recognise that we are accountable to all stakeholders. As a team, through clear guidelines, there is overall executive accountability for the quality and safety of the service and there are clear lines of accountability at individual, team and service levels. Team members at all levels have an important role to play in strengthening and encouraging our services’ quality and safety culture.
Our management focuses on ensuring that our service fulfils its statement of purpose by planning, controlling and organising the service to achieve its outcomes in the short-, medium- and long-term and organising the necessary resources to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe and reliable service. They also monitor performance to ensure that the care, treatment and support that we provide is of a consistently high quality throughout the system.
Professional and Qualified
Our workforce is one of our most important resources in delivering person centred, safe, high quality service. The members of the workforce are skilled and competent to deliver quality service and we have developed a planned, structured programme for training to ensure the sustainability of service’s quality and safety outcomes.
Management supports the need for supervision and training to ensure they are doing a good job and as the direct provision system develops over time, we recognise that the workforce needs to be supported to continuously update and maintain their knowledge and skills.
Responsible use of Resources
The way resources are planned, managed and delivered are an important part of delivering safe and high quality service and support. Our resources include human, physical, financial and natural resources. We use these resources available to us to deliver the best possible outcomes for residents. We believe improving the quality and safety of care requires making the best use of the resources available, not necessarily using more resources.
